Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. They relocated to Oxfordshire when she was five and enrolled in an academy called the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma realized she was going to become an actor and for many years she trained at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned performing and singing. Through a school play as well as an Stagecoach Production, Emma was her role as lead actress at 10 and performed. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents discovered Emma by way of her Oxford theater teacher. After eight auditions consistently, the producer David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast to play the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. The film broke records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature of 2001.
